3. Cutting tissue pattern and adding seams:
Cut tissue paper copies of front and back skirts on
lines. At bottom of top skirt pieces write ”add
1/4” seam allowance”. At top of bottom skirt pieces
write “add 1/4” seam allowance.
4. Cutting pattern from fabric: Cut new
front and back yokes from pique. Cut new front and
back yokes from lining fabric. Cut top front and
back skirts from one print fabric. Cut bottom front
and back skirts from companion fabric. Cut front
and back skirt lining from lining fabric using the
original skirt pattern pieces.
5. Making yoke: With right sides together
stitch shoulder seams of front and back yokes.
Press seams open. With right sides together stitch
shoulder seams of front and back yoke linings.
Press seams open. Stitch rickrack to right side of
yoke on seam line of at neckline of yoke and on
seam line at bottom of yoke. With right sides
together stitch yoke to yoke lining up one back
edge, around neckline and down other back edge.
Trim seam. Turn to right side and press.
6. Attaching companion fabrics of skirt:
With right sides together stitch front skirt top to
front skirt bottom. Press seam up. Top stitch seam
3/16” from seam line. With right sides together
stitch back skirt top to back skirt bottom. Press
seam up. Top stitch seam 3/16” from seam line.
7 Side seams: With right sides together
stitch side seams of skirt front and skirt backs,
matching the seam of the companion fabrics. Press
seams open. With right sides together stitch side
seams of skirt front and back linings. Press seams
open.
8. Finishing dress: Finish dress according
to instructions included with Jacqueline pattern.
