The Children's Corner is very excited about our new pattern, Rose.

The yoke is perfect for a monogram, cutwork or embroidery. It is edged with corded piping.

The dress front is softly gathered in the center. The dress buttons down the back with soft gathers on each side.

Sleeve lengths included are a short sleeve, along with a long slightly fitted sleeve with a casing and small elastic at the wrist.

We LOVE this new little short sleeve! Gathered just enough to cup into shape and crisply edged with corded piping, the sleeve keeps the style traditional without looking "old-fashioned."

Rose is available in two different size packages: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, 6, 7, 8.

By using two fabrics instead of one, Rose can look like a different dress altogether!

On the right, this version of Rose pairs a white pique yoke with a printed quilting cotton. Gray is a popular color this season, and the geometric print emphasizes the clean line of the short sleeve, finished with white piping. Five decorative red buttons spaced on the yoke add a pop of color. (Instead of the buttons, we also considered a small ribbon bow tacked on where the center button is.)

Different combinations of solids and prints, together with the many different embellishments possible on this yoke, make Rose a pattern with almost endless variety. In addition, Rose can also be shortened to a below-the-hip tunic length for wearing with jeans or leggings. Fabric requirements and cutting line for tunic length are included in the pattern. This is definitely a pattern that you will use more than once!

Because the weather is cooling, so far we have been using full-bodied fabrics for this garment, with great success. Mini-wale corduroy, pique, and quilting cottons all look fabulous. We found that even with heavier fabrics, using fusible interfacing in the yoke makes construction easier and the final garment more professional-looking. This is included in the instructions.

At our photo shoot, the hot pink corduroy Rose with long-sleeves was a favorite of the girls. Our little model wanted to take it home because it is "so cozy." Wouldn't this be adorable paired with tights and boots for the winter!
