About School

Among of our favorite programs are the sewing schools we host at our shop in Nashville. In addition to the knowledge our students gain in the classroom, the atmosphere of laughter and exchange of ideas fills our shop. In our expanded and well-equipped classroom, students have the opportunity to learn from the top teachers from around the world.

 

Class Schedule

The classes will meet from 9am until 4pm, with a break for lunch. The shop will open at 8:30am each day in order to give you time to get settled and shop prior to class beginning at 9am. We ask that you arrive no earlier than 8:30am to allow us the chance to be sure all is perfect for a fun day of sewing. 

 

What to Bring

Below are the general supplies you will need for all of our school projects. You will be notified any project specific supplies prior to your arrival at School. If you do not have any of these items or forget anything, we will have them available for purchase at the store. Please label everything so a lost item can find its way home.

  • Sewing machine with all its feet and extra bobbins

  • Fine Tip Washable Blue Marking Pen
  • Pencils
  • 80/12 and 70/10 machine needles
  • Glass Head Pins
  • 3 pairs of scissors - dressmaker shears, trimming, and paper
  • Rotary cutter
  • Scotch Tape
  • Fabric glue
  • 12" Ruler
  • 6" x 24" ruler
  • Bodkin
  • Tape Measure
  • Tracing paper
  • Children's Corner Sewing School Notebook (if you have from previous school, we load new information)

    Sewing Machines and Classroom

    You will need a machine in good working order. To ensure students have ample space to work, each student will have a workable width of 36 inches. Therefore, you will need to consider if your machine is too large to bring to class. We will be happy to reserve one of our Bernina sewing machines for you to use. The store machines are reserved on a first come, first serve basis. 

     

    We provide irons, ironing boards, and cutting tables in the classroom for your use. 

     

    In consideration of others, please refrain from wearing perfumes or strongly scented lotions.

     

    Special Offers

    At sewing school you will enjoy various special offers throughout your stay. We offer extended shopping hours in the mornings starting at 8:30am so that you may make purchases before class. 

     

    General Policies

  • Your registration fee includes a non-refundable deposit (varies depending on class). An additional kit fee is associated with each project.
  • Sewing Schools are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • If spots remain two weeks prior to Sewing School, individual classes will become available.
  • For projects with Trisha Smith and Susan Whitman, you may purchase the Sewing School class at the daily price (as outlined above). If you choose to complete the project during a Sit & Sew (SNS) with the respective teacher, you will not be charged for the SNS you attend to receive instruction on the class. Schedule your SNS time with teacher in advance.

    Cancellation Policy

  • If you need to cancel Sewing School, we will issue a refund of your class fees paid less your deposit as long you notify us more than three weeks before the start of school.
  • If you need to cancel with less than three weeks before school begins, we will try to fill your spot as best as we can. If we are able to do so, we will issue you a refund of your class fees paid less your deposit.
  • While we know that life happens, please keep in mind that we are actively preparing for your arrival to school and buying kit supplies many weeks before school begins to ensure you have the best possible experience.
