Breathing new life into her delicate works and motifs, The Art of May Morris collection is a celebration of pioneering artist and embroiderer, May Morris. Drawing inspiration from the William Morris Gallery archive, Liberty Fabrics created this carefully curated range of designs that champion vibrant florals and intricate botanicals, each one meticulously hand-painted in the London studio and printed on the inimitable Tana Lawn® cotton.
The Liberty studio brought this design to life by carefully assembling floral motifs extracted from May Morris' ink and pencil sketches, originally created as studies for seat cover embroideries. Dating from the early 1900s, this romantic pattern blooms anew as its delicately sketched flowers are infused with color. Rendered in a subtle ornamental style, vibrant tulips, carnations, primroses, buttercups, and bellflowers were hand-drawn with soft, colored pencil strokes and woven into flowing trails of scrolling foliage.
