Quilt Classes with Chris Schulte

House Quilt Block

Friday, February 3
10AM-3PM, $70

Join Chris for a day of fun and build a house block from Elea Lutz's Pretty Playtime book! Chris will guide you through the entire process of creating this block, from fabric selection, to cutting, piecing, and pressing. Make one block to finish into a small wall hanging or pillow, or feel free to go home and make the entire quilt! Whether or not you choose to make the whole quilt, building this block will give you loads of insight and information to apply to your next quilt.

● Sewing machine
● Basic sewing supplies
Pretty Playtime Quilts book(included with class!)
● Please refer to the pattern for fabric amounts. NOTE: if you are only making one block, you will need ¼ yd of white background and various scraps. You will need a 5 ½” x 10 ½” rectangle for the roof, and a 10” x 12” rectangle of fabric for the house (or more if fabric is directional). The rest of the block consists of scraps – lots of variety usually works best! (Sample was made using Liberty prints.)
● Rotary cutter with a fresh, sharp blade
● Ruler(s). Having a ruler that can measure at least 12 ½” is best.
● 50 weight cotton thread for piecing (off white or light gray works well)
● Size 80 sharp sewing needle
● Single hole plate for sewing machine (especially if using Liberty prints)
● ¼” piecing foot
● ¼” sewing guide (These are purple strips that stick to your machine. If you cannot find them, there is ¼” sewing tape or a small stack of post-it notes will do.)
