Signing Up for Classes
To register for a class, call us at 615-292-1746.
Class sizes are small and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Classes may be cancelled if minimum number of 3 students is not reached, in which case you will receive a full refund.
We have a 48hr cancellation policy prior to the start of class but make-ups are not available.
Class fee does not include the cost of supplies, unless otherwise stated.
Preparing for Your Class
Our classroom is equipped with a few sewing machines but we encourage you to bring your own so you can learn new techniques on your personal machine. Please call ahead to reserve one of our machines.
We ask that you purchase your fabric & supplies at the Children’s Corner Store before your class. If you need to shop the day of your class, you are welcome to arrive at 9:30am to shop before class begins.
NEW! Workshop with Mariana of Hibiscus Linens | Sunday August 24, 2025
Botanical Pillow Sampler: August 24, 2025 | 2-4pm
We are delighted to host the lovely Mariana Barran of Hibiscus Linens in our shop for an embroidery workshop. She will walk you through the color combination and hand embroidery techniques needed to bring to life the full floral design of a pillow sham. 5 different embroidery stitches will be covered during our time together. For those with more embroidery experience, there’s the option to personalize your design with an elegant monogram. (see image below)
All needed materials will be available for you upon arrival and for you to continue your project at home.
Class time: 90 min of instruction + (30 extra minutes to stitch and chat)

CLASS FULL | Hand Embroidering Doodles & Letters: August 24, 2025 | 6-8pm
Create personalized cocktail napkins or handkerchiefs in this fun, beginner-friendly embroidery class led by Mariana Barran of Hibiscus Linens. You’ll learn how to stitch charming doodles, words, and decorative icons — perfect for personalizing napkins, linens, and other keepsakes. It’s the ideal project for making thoughtful, handmade pieces for special occasions, gifts, or simply for yourself.
All needed materials will be available for you upon arrival and for you to continue your project at home.

Basic Construction
This class is for beginners or anyone who feels they need a refresher. In this class, you will learn how to sew a well-made lined garment. You will learn about fabric, how to cut out a pattern, and how to follow the pattern directions.
Preparing for Class:
- Choose between the Lucy or Johnny pattern.
- Purchase pattern, fabric and notions before the first class.

10am-2pm with Melissa, $75
Beginning Smocking
You will be learning geometric smocking stitches on straight pleated fabric. Class fee includes a starter kit to help you get started. This class meets for three consecutive weeks.
Preparing for Class:
We will use the starter kit for the first class. You will need to choose your fabric before or during the first class so we can pleat it for the 2nd class.
You can choose an insert or a Bishop for your garment pattern. You will also need to purchase a smocking plate and DMC floss. You will receive a 20% discount on the $8 pleating fee.

10am-12:30pm with Melissa, $80
Serger Know How
You will learn how to thread your serger machine, make any adjustments for a beautiful over-lock stitch and how to stitch a rolled hem and gather fabric with your serger. You will complete an a nightgown or PJ set by the end of this two-day class.
Preparing for Class:
- Bring 5 spools of different colors of thread (doesn't have to be serger thread), your serger and manual.
- Purchase Ella pattern.
- Purchase and prewash flannel or knit for garment.
Next Class Offering:
September 25-27
10am-3pm with Bonnie, $125
Picture Smocking
Your teacher will demonstrate the techniques for picture smocking. A smocking starter kit and a pleated insert are included in class fee. This is not a beginning smocking class. You must have experience with basic geometric smocking prior to taking this class.
Preparing for Class:
- Choose your picture smocking plate from this collection.
- Purchase necessary DMC floss.

October 16 & 17
10am-12:30pm with Melissa, $60
Lyn Weeks Christmas Dress
In this class, you will create a classic Christmas dress using the Lyn Weeks Frannie pattern. More details coming soon.
Preparing for Class:
- You will need the Frannie by Lyn Weeks for this class.
- Visit the shop before the class to purchase your fabric and notions.
Next Class Offering:
October 23-25
10am-3pm with Bonnie, $125
Bishop Construction
Maybe you remember how to smock, or just completed beginning smocking, this class is perfect for you as you learn how to construct the timeless Bishop dress.
Preparing for Class:
- Purchase or bring your Bishop pattern.
- Bring a Bishop that is pleated with at least the first row of smocking complete. You may either bring your Bishop from beginning smocking, or call us to plan and purchase a new cut, sew pleat.
Next Class Offering:
November 6 & 7
10am-2pm with Bonnie, $80
Stitching Corner
Bring your project and get help from our experts as you spend the day sewing with fellow sewers. Basic sewing knowledge is required for this class. Sign-ups are per class session.
Preparing for Class:
- When you sign up, let us know what you are working on so we can best assist you.
- It is encouraged you bring your own machine but let us know if you need to use one of ours.
2 Fridays a Month:
10am-3pm, $25 per session
